Trauma-Informed

Relational Therapy

For people who feel stuck in repeating emotional or relationship patterns and want to understand themselves more deeply, rebuild self-worth and feel more connected to themselves.

Therapy for anxiety, trauma, shame, self-abandonment, attachment wounds, emotional overwhelm, separation, divorce, intimacy, sexuality and painful relationship dynamics.

How I Work

My work is trauma-informed, relational and embodied. I support people who want to understand why old emotional and relationship patterns keep returning, especially where anxiety, shame, attachment wounds, self-abandonment, trauma or painful experiences still shape how they feel, relate and respond.

I draw on EMDR, somatic and embodied approaches, inner child work, attachment, mindfulness, CBT, TA and nervous system regulation. Together, we can explore your thoughts, emotions, body responses and protective patterns with more awareness and compassion.

Trauma & Emotional Patterns

I work with people who feel stuck in repeating emotional patterns, anxiety, shame, overwhelm or painful responses that do not seem to shift through thinking alone. Therapy can help you understand what is happening beneath the surface and how past experiences may still be shaping your body, emotions and relationships.

Relationships, Attachment & Self-Worth

Relationship difficulties often touch deeper patterns around attachment, boundaries, intimacy, self-worth and self-abandonment. I support individuals, and some couples, to understand what keeps repeating, how old protective responses show up, and how to build healthier ways of relating.

My Work

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with 6 years’ experience supporting adults with anxiety, trauma, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, separation, divorce, self-worth and painful life transitions.

My work has developed from an integrative foundation, bringing together counselling, trauma-informed therapy, EMDR, somatic and embodied approaches, attachment work, mindfulness, inner child work, CBT, TA and psychosexual therapy.

I do not believe therapy is about applying one method to every person. Each person brings a different history, nervous system, relationship pattern and way of protecting themselves. My work is to meet you where you are, help you understand what has shaped you, and support change at a pace that feels steady and respectful.

I also bring many years of yoga, meditation and body-based practice into my understanding of therapy. This helps me work not only with thoughts and emotions, but also with the body, breath, nervous system and the deeper patterns that can live beneath words.

I offer a calm, non-judgmental and grounded therapeutic space where you can begin to understand yourself more fully, rebuild trust in yourself, and find new ways of relating to your emotions, your body and the people around you.

If this speaks to something you are carrying, you are welcome to get in touch to ask about availability or arrange an initial consultation.

Areas I Work With

I support people with anxiety, trauma, shame, emotional overwhelm, relationship patterns, attachment wounds, self-abandonment, boundaries, self-worth, intimacy, sexuality, separation, divorce and the impact of painful relationships.

My work is not about treating these issues as separate boxes. Often they are connected: anxiety may live in the body, shame may come from earlier relationships, intimacy may be affected by trauma, and self-abandonment may show up in the way you relate to others.

Together, we can look beneath the surface and begin to understand what keeps repeating, what has protected you, and what may now be ready to change.

Something about me….

Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a nurse and spent many years in clinical research, project management and professional environments where people were often carrying pressure, responsibility and emotional strain.

I have also run my own business and worked across corporate, private and voluntary settings. These experiences helped me understand how stress, burnout, relationship patterns and old ways of coping can affect both our inner life and the way we relate to others.

My path into therapy grew from a long-standing interest in healing, self-understanding and the connection between mind, body and emotions. I have practised and taught yoga, mindfulness and meditation for over twenty years, and these practices continue to shape my embodied and trauma-informed approach.

As a therapist, I bring together professional training, clinical experience, body-based awareness and a deep respect for each person’s history, pace and capacity for change.

Outside my work, nature, movement, creativity and quiet reflective space are important parts of my life.

Testimonials

‘Marzena has been a godsend to our family and has helped me personally very much in the past several weeks. I felt so defeated and broken when we met, and you’ve helped me parse elements of this family dynamic to better identify how to recognize what I can and should own and where I need to hold others accountable. I look forward to continuing to work with her and my husband on how to create better emotional safety in our family. ‘ – JP Buckinghamshire
